Over the past few weeks, we’ve gathered to share gifts in celebration of Christ’s birth. But, of all the gifts you received — what was the greatest gift of all?

We share many gifts in an array of creative ways. We give the gift of our time, our attention, and our love. And, as Dr. Gary Chapman, author of The 5 Love Languages, so comprehensively explains, we show and receive love through Words of Affirmation; Acts of Service; Gifts; Quality Time; and Physical Touch.  We all have our own unique way of sharing our love and we all have particular ways of receiving love from others.

“Almost everything ever written on the subject of love indicates that at the heart of love is the spirit of giving.” Dr. Gary Chapman

So how often do we really take time to consider the gifts we are giving — and the underlying reason we are giving them in the first place? While celebrating Christmas this year, what was the greatest gift you received? What was the greatest gift you gave?

Consider Christ’s gift of His time, His power, His words, and His life. There is no greater gift.

“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” John 15:13

Giving transforms our relationships and it helps us connect with others. I encourage you to intentionally think of ways to show love to others. It could open the door to sharing Christ with them- and it may not be as difficult as you think.

As we prepare to welcome in a brand-new year, how do you plan to share the gift of Christ with those who don’t know Him?
