Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
How do we workout our faith? Faith in God is like a muscle – it needs to be exercised.
Hebrews says that faith is confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see. When we face obstacles or unanswered prayers in our lives, we need to depend on God and His love and ability. 1 John 4:17 tells us we can know and rely on the love God has for us!
When we exercise our bodies, we encounter resistance, it’s the resistance that makes us strong. It’s called strength resistance or resistance training which helps increase our ability to overcome resistance.
In the same way, we need to trust God, instead of our circumstances. Trusting Him builds our faith in His ability to work out everything for our good and His glory. The resistance we are facing in our life is designed to strengthen us and our relationship with God. We workout our faith when we believe God, despite our feelings or emotions.
Where do you need to workout your faith in God? Is it a financial need? A health issue? Marriage or a relationship? The salvation of a family member?
Faith Factors in the Ability of God
Look at God’s unlimited ability and don’t focus on your limited inability. In other words, be God-reliant, not self-reliant.
Faith is not something that works automatically – we must intentionally exercise our faith in God. Just like we must intentionally exercise our bodies, we must intentionally exercise our faith muscle. Think of a situation in your life that you need God to act on your behalf and purpose in your heart to trust our faithful God.
Leave the results to Him. Leave the provision up to Him. Leave the problem-solving up to Him. Faith is an intentional action. Open your hands and heart to Him… Because He is FAITHFUL!
