1,200 Inmates’ Lives Forever Changed

May 2, 2023

Courage For Life is passionate about sharing the love of Jesus with those who are incarcerated. We believe that every person is created with a purpose and potential, and we are committed to empowering individuals to live fulfilling lives through the transformative power of the gospel.

Our prison ministry is a crucial part of this mission.

We work in partnership with correctional facilities nationwide, providing faith-based programming and support to inmates. We are dedicated to training and supporting volunteers serving in their local prisons to facilitate our Courage For My Life discipleship program, empowering them to make a meaningful impact among those behind bars. Through our prison ministry, we offer inmates opportunities to participate in our discipleship program and gain access to our print and digital resources that promote emotional healing and spiritual growth.

PRISON MINISTRY IMPACT

We are proud of the work we are doing to help incarcerated individuals find hope and healing. Through our Courage For My Life discipleship program, we have had an incredible 1,265 participants across 56 classes in 21 facilities in nine states. This program provides individuals with the tools they need to grow emotionally and spiritually, no matter their circumstances.

We are committed to measuring the impact of our ministry and the effectiveness of our resources. We use pre- and post-questionnaires to assess participants’ emotional and spiritual growth in our Courage For My Life discipleship program. Before beginning the program, each participant completes a pre-questionnaire, which helps us understand their emotional and spiritual state at the outset. After completing the program, they fill out a post-questionnaire, which allows us to gauge the program’s impact on their lives. By analyzing the data from these questionnaires, we can make data-driven decisions to continually improve our ministry and resources. These questionnaires are a valuable tool for measuring the effectiveness of our work and ensuring we are providing the best support possible.

Chenelle’s journey through our Courage For My Life discipleship program is a powerful testament to the life-changing impact of our resources. At the beginning of the program, Chenelle rated her ability to identify false beliefs and replace them with scriptural truth at just 3 out of 10. After completing our discipleship program and engaging with our resources, Chenelle’s rating for both increased to an impressive 7 out of 10! This is just one example of the many lives we are able to touch and transform through Courage For Life.

PRISON MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS

Our volunteers are the backbone of our prison ministry. With volunteers serving in prisons nationwide, we are able to reach more incarcerated individuals and make a greater impact on their lives. Our dedicated team of volunteers includes 61 incarcerated peer facilitators specially trained to lead our Courage For My Life program in the prisons where they are serving their sentences. These individuals bring a unique perspective and understanding to the program, which allows them to connect with and support their fellow inmates in a powerful way.

In addition to our incarcerated peer facilitators, we also have 17 volunteers who are chaplains, non-profit leaders, and community volunteers committed to sharing God’s love with incarcerated individuals. Each of these volunteers plays a critical role in our ministry and helps to expand our reach within the prison system.

Our volunteers are a testament to the transformative power of our ministry, and we are grateful for their dedication and service. In fact, one of our volunteers recently shared an email with us about her experience leading our Courage For My Life discipleship class in her local prison.
