The Speed of Life

August 10, 2018

“There is a time for everything, and a season for

every activity under the heavens.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

Time flies! Seems like yesterday my boys were in elementary school and I was constantly entertained by their funny stories and inspired by their strong and loving hearts.

But, it wasn’t yesterday. It’s now been 20 years since I carted those little guys around.  My sons are successful, productive young adults who work hard in their profession, love me and most importantly, love God.  Life is indeed short and speeds by with little warning –– so, we are wise to treasure our time before it slips through our hands.  We are wise not to take the precious moments of our lives for granted.

Since time is brief, we need to be thankful for every season God gives us. God does not call us to be satisfied with the status quo –– He calls us to embrace the abundant life He gives us.

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is God’s gift, that’s why

It’s called ‘the present’.”   Alice Morse Earle

Time truly is a gift from God and our lives are His gift to us  –– how we use them is our gift back to Him.  God gives us each unique talents and abilities to impact our sphere of influence in the measured time He gives us. It’s not unusual for God to call us to an area of life that stretches us beyond our comfort zone in order to meet a specific need in the place where He is working. This kind of calling means we must rely on Him to get the job done rather than on our own strength and determination. Remember- God equips those He calls.

God has given you gifts and He wants you to use them in the time He has allotted – to make His name known to those who don’t know Him. He wants us to fully embrace His invitation, where He leads us to serve and minister to others and to be His conduit of courage, hope, and peace.

Life is speeding by, how are you using your talents, gifts, and abilities for God so that He might live big in you?
